Frequently Asked Questions
-
I work with adults (18+) who are navigating trauma, and have a special focus working with adults having ADHD, and/or neurodivergence. Many of my clients have experienced marginalization, chronic stress, masking, shame, or complex trauma that has impacted their emotional regulation, relationships, or self-concept. I especially enjoy working with individuals who have tried talk therapy before but still feel stuck or disconnected finding forward progress and growth.
-
I provide online therapy for residents of Maryland and Virginia only. You must be physically located in Maryland or Virginia during each session in accordance with licensure regulations.
-
Many of my clients (myself included!) have felt frustrated by traditional talk therapy that focuses mainly on thinking or insight. My approach is different. I integrate body-based and energy-based techniques like Brainspotting and EFT tapping to go beyond surface-level symptom management to help you resolve issues at the nervous system level — where trauma, stress, and dysregulation often live.
-
Sessions are collaborative and customized to what you need that day. We may use tools like EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), Brainspotting, somatic therapy or other Energy Psychology techniques, or to help regulate your nervous system, process emotion, and shift long-standing patterns. I also incorporate neuroscience-based education to help you understand what’s happening in your brain and body — and how we can support healing.
-
Not at all. One of the gifts of tapping, Brainspotting, and somatic work is that we can process emotional pain without needing to have you retell your entire story or re-live painful moments. You can go at your own pace — your nervous system will guide the process, and I’m here to help you feel safe and supported along the way.
-
No, I don’t offer EMDR — I specialize in other approaches, including EFT tapping and Brainspotting, which is also a brain-body based trauma treatment but offers more flexibility, especially for complex trauma and neurodivergent nervous systems. Many clients who have tried EMDR find Brainspotting to be more intuitive and less overwhelming.
-
Yes. I offer therapy for ADHD that focuses on emotional regulation, nervous system healing, and self-concept repair — not just productivity tips or behavior modification. Many clients with ADHD experience chronic overwhelm, internalized shame, or a sense of failure. My trauma-informed, neuro-affirming approach helps you process these layers and access greater self-compassion, clarity, and peace.
-
My integrative approach draws on:
Brainspotting
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) “Tapping”
Somatic therapy principles
Energy Psychology
Polyvagal theory
Mindfulness and nervous system regulation
Neuroscience-informed education and tools
These modalities work together to help you move out of survival states and into greater emotional freedom, balance, and connection with your body and intuition, so you are free to grow with more ease.
-
Clients often describe me as warm, open, and empathetic. I strive to create a space that feels emotionally safe and nonjudgmental, so you can explore what’s coming up for you without fear of doing it “wrong.” My goal is for you to feel seen, supported, and empowered — even during the tough parts of the therapy process.
-
The first session is about connection and collaboration. We’ll get to know one another, identify your strengths, explore what brings you to therapy, and begin jointly mapping a healing plan that feels aligned and supportive to you. You’ll likely leave with practical tools to start using right away — I love helping clients find relief early in the process.

I am an out-of-network provider. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill (receipt) that you may submit for potential reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to understand your coverage.
-
This is a thoughtful and important question. I’ve chosen not to work directly with insurance companies so I can offer the highest quality care—care that is personalized, flexible, and rooted in the kind of deep healing that many of my clients are looking for.
As a certified Brainspotting therapist with advanced, ongoing training in trauma and integrative modalities, I provide specialized services that go beyond what most insurance plans are willing to cover. Brainspotting intensives, in particular, are extended, immersive sessions designed to create significant transformation in a shorter period of time—yet these are often not reimbursed by insurance at all.
Insurance also comes with limitations that can hinder the therapeutic process:
Requiring a mental health diagnosis, which becomes part of your permanent medical record.
Imposing restrictions on session length and frequency.
Focusing care around symptom management rather than whole-person healing.
By working outside of the insurance system, I’m able to offer an experience that’s centered entirely around you. That means sessions tailored to your goals, space for depth and integration, and the freedom to work creatively and intuitively using the full range of my skills.
I understand that therapy is an investment, and I take that seriously. I’m deeply committed to making sure you receive real value from our work together—whether that’s through deep emotional breakthroughs, lasting relief from long-held patterns, or feeling more connected to your authentic self. My approach is designed to create meaningful, lasting change—not just short-term symptom relief.
If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I’m happy to provide a superbill that you can submit for possible reimbursement.
-
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the following information to help you file for reimbursement from your insurance company:
Your name and date of service
My provider information (including NPI number)
CPT and ICD-10 codes (diagnostic and treatment codes)
Session fees paid
You can submit this superbill to your insurance provider via their online portal, email, or mail, depending on their instructions.
-
The following CPT codes are used for mental health services:
90791 – Psychiatric diagnostic evaluation (used for initial intake sessions)
90837 – Psychotherapy, 60 minutes (used for ongoing sessions) -
Here’s a script and checklist to guide your call with your insurance company:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?
Do you reimburse for the following CPT codes?
90791 – Psychiatric diagnostic evaluation (used for initial intake sessions)
90837 – Psychotherapy, 60 minutes (used for ongoing sessions)
What percentage of each session is reimbursed?
Do I need to meet an out-of-network deductible first?
If yes:
What is the amount?
How much of it have I met?
Is pre-authorization required for therapy?
Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions per year?
What is the process for submitting a superbill?
How long does reimbursement typically take once I submit?
-
You can also pay for therapy sessions using a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), if available through your insurance or employer.
