Specialty Therapy for Complex Trauma
Does This Sound Familiar?
Have people always told you you’re too sensitive?
Have you experienced stigma or felt misunderstood?
Were you constantly told you’re not doing things “right” or even “good enough”?
Do you feel like you never quite measure up—no matter how hard you try?
Do you feel exhausted from holding it all together?
Do you carry a deep, persistent sense that something’s wrong with you?
Do you struggle to trust yourself—or even know what you want?
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not broken—and you’re not alone. These are often signs of complex trauma.
What Is Complex Trauma?
Complex trauma, or C-PTSD, results from repeated or chronic trauma—often in the form of emotional neglect, developmental trauma, or ongoing relational harm.
-
Happens over time
Involves close relationships (e.g., caregivers, partners)
Is harder to recognize or name
Shapes how you see yourself and others
This kind of trauma doesn’t just affect what you think. It affects how you feel, how you respond, and how your nervous system operates.
How Complex Trauma Affects You
When trauma is ongoing—especially in childhood—it changes how your brain and body function. Even when the trauma is over, your nervous system may still be stuck in survival mode.
Your Brain’s Threat System Gets Stuck “On”
Complex trauma can dysregulate your brain’s threat detection system, keeping you in a chronic state of alert. The amygdala becomes overactive, scanning for danger, while your prefrontal cortex (responsible for regulation and decision-making) can become overwhelmed or underactive.
-
Feel constantly on edge or unsafe
Freeze or dissociate in response to stress
Struggle to calm down or trust your instincts
Feel “too much” emotionally—or feel nothing at all
Your Nervous System Stays in Survival Mode
Your autonomic nervous system may shift into long-term patterns of hypervigilance, collapse, or shutdown. These aren’t conscious choices—they’re deeply ingrained survival strategies.
-
Chronic tension or pain
Fatigue, burnout, or brain fog
Difficulty sleeping or relaxing
Always being “on” or never feeling truly rested
And Your Body Pays the Price
When the body is flooded with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline over time, it can affect every major system in your body.
-
Inflammation or chronic illness
Digestive or hormonal issues
Headaches or other physical pain
Weakened immune function or autoimmune symptoms
These are real physiological responses to trauma—not overreactions, not weaknesses. Just your body doing its best to protect you.
Why Traditional Talk Therapy May Not Be Enough
Many of my clients have already done therapy—sometimes for years. They’ve gained insight, learned skills, and tried hard to “get better.” And still, they feel stuck.
That’s because trauma lives not just in your thoughts, but in your body and nervous system.
Traditional therapy often uses a top-down approach, working with your thinking mind to influence change. But complex trauma needs a bottom-up path—one that works with the body, the senses, and the emotional memory system to support effective change.
My Integrative Approach to Healing Complex Trauma
I offer trauma-specialized, somatic-based therapy for adults who are ready to move beyond symptom management—and toward lasting change.
-
Adults who have tried talk therapy but haven’t found relief
Neurodivergent individuals and highly sensitive people
People who feel stuck in patterns of shame, self-doubt, or emotional overwhelm
Individuals who can’t seem to let go and relax
I draw from deeply integrative, body-based methods including:
-
A powerful mind-body therapy that accesses trauma held in the midbrain—bypassing overthinking and allowing emotional and physical processing without needing to rehash your story.
-
Helps your nervous system release stored trauma and restores capacity for calm, safety, and connection—gently and at your own pace.
-
Unpacks the different “parts” of you (e.g., inner critic, people-pleaser, perfectionist) with compassion—so they can begin to relax and integrate.
-
A gentle but powerful way to shift trauma patterns held in the body’s energy systems—often restoring hope and emotional clarity when things feel dark or stuck.
