Does This Sound Familiar?

  • Have people always told you you’re too sensitive?

  • Have you experienced stigma or felt misunderstood?

  • Were you constantly told you’re not doing things “right” or even “good enough”?

  • Do you feel like you never quite measure up—no matter how hard you try?

  • Do you feel exhausted from holding it all together?

  • Do you carry a deep, persistent sense that something’s wrong with you?

  • Do you struggle to trust yourself—or even know what you want?

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not broken—and you’re not alone. These are often signs of trauma or even complex trauma.

What Is Complex Trauma?

Complex trauma, or C-PTSD, results from repeated or chronic trauma—often in the form of emotional neglect, developmental trauma, or ongoing relational harm.

Unlike single-incident trauma, complex trauma often:

  • Happens over time

  • Involves close relationships (e.g., caregivers, partners)

  • Is harder to recognize or name

  • Shapes how you see yourself and others

This kind of trauma doesn’t just affect what you think. It affects how you feel, how you respond, and how your nervous system operates.

How Trauma Affects You

When trauma is ongoing—especially in childhood—it changes how your brain and body function. Even when the trauma is over, your nervous system may still be stuck in survival mode.

Your Brain’s Threat System Gets Stuck “On”

Trauma can dysregulate your brain’s threat detection system, keeping you in a chronic state of alert. The amygdala becomes overactive, scanning for danger, while your prefrontal cortex (responsible for regulation and decision-making) can become overwhelmed or underactive.

Your Nervous System Stays in Survival Mode

Your autonomic nervous system may shift into long-term patterns of hypervigilance, collapse, or shutdown. These aren’t conscious choices—they’re deeply ingrained survival strategies.

And Your Body Pays the Price

When the body is flooded with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline over time, it can affect every major system in your body.

Why Traditional Talk Therapy May Not Be Enough

Many of my clients have already done therapy—sometimes for years. They’ve gained insight, learned skills, and tried hard to “get better.” And still, they feel stuck.

That’s because trauma lives not just in your thoughts, but in your body and nervous system.

Traditional therapy often uses a top-down approach, working with your thinking mind to influence change. But trauma (especially complex-trauma) needs a bottom-up path—one that works with the body, the senses, and the emotional memory system to support effective change.

My Integrative Approach to Healing Trauma

I offer trauma-specialized, somatic-based therapy for adults who are ready to move beyond symptom management—and toward lasting change.

I draw from deeply integrative, body-based methods including:
